Story of Service: We had a Military Family Fun Day for military families and their service members. The event was to honor those who serve, and to provide fun, entertainment, food and lots of free resources to these families. We had a wonderful community collaboration of more than 20 different agencies from Harrison County. We are doing this event again on Sept., 17, 2011 from 11am till 4pm at the Harrison County Recreation Complex and 4-H Center on Route 19 South in Clarksburg. Military Families will have free access to all the activities, entertainment, food and resources.

Story of Service: Eight people, including children and volunteers from the Children's Home Society of West Virginia's WE CAN Mentoring Program, collected donations from the community to include in care packages to mail to servicemen and women currently serving overseas. We asked friends and family for names and addresses of loved ones currently serving in Iraq and/or Afghanistan. Once the donations were received the children and volunteers crafted hand-made cards and poems to include in the care packages.
